Messe Düsseldorf, organiser of Interpack, the leading international trade fair, is postponing its event for new dates: 25 February to 3 March 2021.
Interpack represents the entire value chain in the packaging industry
Interpack is one of the world’s most important fairs of the packaging industry and offers a wide array of offers from exhibitors to visitors, from the production and refinement of packaging products and packaging materials of all classes to the packaging and distribution to quality assurance and consumer protection.
Invited are primarily companies that offer packaging and process technology in the fields of food and beverages, confectionery and bakery products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, non-food consumer goods and industrial goods or related services.
On average, more than 2,500 exhibitors from +45 countries take part in Interpack on a yearly basis, and more than 150,000 visitors attend the 7-day event in Düsseldorf.
Safety first – a target among individual industries as well
The decision to postpone Interpack is based on recommendations from the crisis management team of the German Federal Government, as well as the principles issued by Robert Koch Institute when assessing the risk of major events.
Measures to reduce the risk of transmission at major events, which the Robert Koch Institute has clearly defined – such as ventilation of the venue appropriate to the risk of infection, the exclusion of persons from risk groups and the comprehensive installation of entrance screening, were practically impossible to implement.
‘The decision was taken in close consultation with our advisory board and sponsoring associations’, emphasises Werner M. Dornscheidt, Chairman of the Board of Management of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, Interpack organiser. It also reflects the wishes of individual industries: ‘As their partner, we are currently doing everything in our power to reduce the economic losses suffered by our exhibitors.’
Moreover: ‘The city of Düsseldorf is following the instructions of the state government. Our aim is to slow down the spread of the coronavirus so that the health system can continue to function properly’, emphasises Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of the state capital of Düsseldorf and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Düsseldorf trade fair company.
BFG Packaging, as Interpack recurrent industry partner, supports the decision to postpone the fair and together with those responsible is counting on a successful event next year.
ALL4PACK Paris in November 2020, still taking place
ALL4PACK Paris (the previous EMBALLAGE), a flagship event in the international packaging exhibitions, is scheduled for 23-26 November 2020 and so far no news has been announced concerning a potential postponement of this event as well.
This year, organisers are estimating a presence of around 80,000 visitors and more than 1,500 exhibitors.
